Building strong and strategic partnerships that empower Kenyan women

Strengthening health systems and empowering communities

We have made significant investments to improve the quality of sexual and reproductive healthcare in Kenya in order to reduce maternal mortality.

Marie Stopes Kenya has significantly contributed towards the general decline in total fertility rates in Kenya from 4.9 to 4.6 children per woman between 2003 and 2008/9. The use of contraceptives measured as contraceptives prevalence rate for all methods rose from 39% to 46% during the same period with wide national variation from 4% in the north east to 63.5% in central region.
