How long after sex to test for pregnancy?
You can take a pregnancy test from the day your period is due. At this point, most tests can pick up the hormone that indicates pregnancy in your urine.
Various home pregnancy tests have different levels of sensitivity. So, if you’re unsure about being pregnant, even if the test is negative, it’s a good idea to try again a week later or talk to a healthcare provider like MSI.
For the most reliable result, we recommend taking a pregnancy test three weeks after having unprotected sex.
What are the early signs of pregnancy?
The most obvious sign of pregnancy is delayed or missed periods. But even before your period is due, it’s possible that you might notice some pregnancy symptoms, including:
- Breast swelling or tenderness
- Nausea and vomiting
- Needing to wee more often
- Spotting and cramping
- Change in appetite
- Feeling tired
You can get tested at any MSI medical facility. If you find out that you are pregnant, we can guide you through your decisions.
